A blend of essential oil extracts from three herbs (sage, decree and thyme) significantly reduces the intensity and frequency of mild to moderate symptoms of covid-19, according to a study by scientists at the University of Crete, recently published in the scientific journal “Diseases”.

As the first author of the study, emeritus professor of General Medicine and PHY at the School of Medicine of the University of Crete, reported to the Fm Agency, Christos Lionisthe findings of the study mainly concern headache, myalgia, general fatigue and fever.

“We studied during 2 weeks, on the first, fourth, seventh and 14th day, the evolution of the symptoms, and we identified on the seventh day, statistically significant results, both in terms of reducing the intensity and in terms of the frequency of the symptoms.”

The collection of data was done in 3 time periods, throughout the pandemic, so the study was conducted with all variants, A, B, D and Omicron, Mr. Lionis explained. Regarding the question of where else this essential oil blend could be used, Mr. Lionis replied that this study paves the way for discussion of the use of the blend for other mild to moderate infections as well, noting how important the mechanism by which this blend of essential oils works.
