“Both sports clubs and sports venues in general, as well as our member doctors, must comply with the law, as otherwise the prescribed sanctions will be imposed”, emphasizes ISA.
The medical examination and the provision of medical opinions to athletes must be carried out in Primary or Secondary Health Care institutions, reports the Athens Medical Association (ISA).
Following reports, the Medical Association of Athens, in the context of its statutory purposes for safeguarding the correct practice of medicine, but also for the protection of its members from the risk of disciplinary action against them, points out once again the obligation of the examination of athletes for the provision of a medical opinion only in clinics or polyclinics and in general Primary or Secondary Health Care institutions that have legally received a certificate of operation from the competent institutions for the provision of health services. He emphasizes that under no circumstances is it legal for a doctor to go to the premises of the respective Association, in order to examine the athletes, with the aim of issuing a medical certificate for athletic ability.
“Both sports clubs and sports venues in general, as well as our member doctors, must comply with the law, as otherwise the prescribed sanctions will be imposed”, concludes ISA.
