The training of experienced gynecologists from Balkan countries (Hungary, Romania) in the special techniques of robotic surgery was successfully completed by the Director of the AD Gynecology Clinic – Department of Robotics and Laparoscopic Surgery of Metropolitan General, Dr. Nikos.
Dr. Plevris was a guest of the National Institute of Oncology in Budapest and attended gynecological oncology surgeries with a particularly high index of difficulty using state-of-the-art robotic systems.
As part of the training, laparoscopic doctors from Romania, who recognize the special advantages of robotic surgery over traditional laparoscopy, attended the list of surgeries of the AD Gynecology Clinic at the Metropolitan General.
First gynecological robotic operation in Hungary, at the National Oncology Institute
Under the supervision of Dr. Plevris, four robotic gynecological cancers were performed. In all operations, the sentinel lymph node technique was used to identify metastatic disease.
In this context, the first robotic assisted hysterectomy was performed in Hungary together with the very experienced gynecologists Dr. Kiarash Bahremand and Zoltan Novak.
International Reference and Training Center for Gynecological Robotic Surgeries in Athens the Metropolitan General
In January, gynecologists from abroad visited the Metropolitan General in order to attend the regular surgeries of the AD Gynecology Clinic.
Specialized gynecologists in laparoscopic surgery from endometriosis treatment centers in Romania, visited Greece in order to attend and be trained in the use of robotic surgery to treat complex gynecological problems such as endometriosis.
Some of the major benefits of robotic surgery in treating chronic conditions such as endometriosis are the huge detail at the millimeter level, the accuracy of the movements, the stability of the manipulations but also the improved perception of the surgical field.
The First Gynecological Clinic actively participates in the formation of new high quality services in gynecological care. It is the Clinic with the largest number of gynecological cases in Greece. At the same time, it actively contributes to the promotion and establishment of robotic programs in other European countries, through the exchange of visits, experiences and knowledge between specialized doctors from Europe.
The aim of the Clinic is to expand the application of robotic surgery in gynecological care, knowing the huge benefits it offers to the quality of life of women, in the treatment of infertility and oncology patients.
