The process includes filling out the registration form and recording a short medical history as well as taking a swab of the mouth (saliva).
It is noted that the allogeneic transplantation of hematopoietic cells or otherwise bone marrow is an established treatment for the treatment of serious hematological, neoplastic and genetic diseases. Its goal is to replace the pathological bone marrow with healthy cells, which are taken from the donor compatible with the patient and create a new, healthy hematopoietic system in the recipient.

About the Association “VISION OF HOPE”
The Association “ORAMA ELPIDAS” was founded in 2012 by the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer “ELPIDA”, of the late Marianna Vardinogianni, with the aim of increasing volunteer bone marrow donors in Greece. In 2014, the operation of the Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor Bank began, which came to meet the needs of patients, children and adults, who need hematopoietic cell transplantation, both in Greece and internationally. The Bone Marrow Volunteer Donor Bank has, to date, succeeded in registering more than 160,000 new volunteer donors of which 329 have been found compatible and have given a transplant to an equal number of patients.
