The Deputy Minister of Health Zoe Rapti visited today the General Hospital of Katerini and Mental Health Structures, of the Prefecture of Pieria, where she met with the employees and the Administration, for issues of operation of the Hospital, and in particular of the Psychiatric Sector, as well as issues related to new services. mental health that strengthen the NSS.

The meeting was attended by the Commander of the 3rd RAE, Pan. Bogiatzidis, Pieria Members of ND Xenophon Baraliakos, Anna Mani – Papadimitriou and Representative of MEP Savva Hadides, the commander of Katerini Hospital George Hadjigeorgiou, Director Psychiatrist – Moderator of Psychiatric Sector Dimitris Xylaas, The Deputy Ministry of Psychiatric Sofia Wastoglou, the Administrative Director of Psychiatry Stefanos Bastrogiannis and the Head of the Nursing Service, E. Dergali.

The Undersecretary of Health also visited the “4 SEASONS” Day Center, the “Thalia” Guesthouse, the “MUSES HOUSE” Day Center and the Mental Health Center and had a conversation with the Management of the Psychiatric Workers’ Union.

Finally, the Undersecretary met with representatives of the Local Government and in particular, with the Deputy Regional Governor of Pieria, Sofia Mavridou and the Mayor of Katerini Konstantinos Koukodimos and talked about their always necessary cooperation with the Ministry of Health to support the structures and services of health. of our fellow citizens.

In a statement, the Deputy Minister of Health stressed, among other things:

“I am in Katerini today, to send a message: That Public Health is our priority. That people with Mental Health problems, people who need support, especially throughout this period of the pandemic, are not alone.

I am here to strengthen Mental Health structures and services with new Child Psychiatric Beds, Mobile Support Centers for Children and Adolescents at their place of residence, and Day Care Centers to support the elderly and those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s.

I want to thank all the health and administrative staff of the health structures, because you have outdone yourself all this time. I understand the needs that exist for this and the planning of the Ministry is to respond immediately to them.

The process of announcing the 4,000 positions of nursing staff has already been almost completed, while within the first 6 months of 2022 the positions for 910 other nursing staff and about 700 positions of doctors will be announced, which includes health personnel for the mental health sector.

Our priority is to strengthen the NSS. Through the Recovery Fund there are very important resources that will be allocated for the creation of new structures and for the improvement of the existing structures and services of mental health and services of the NSS.

It is estimated that 350 million euros will be allocated for building infrastructure and 80 million euros for the logistical upgrade of our hospitals in total, and 55 million euros for the creation of new structures and mental health services, day centers and mobile units that support it. elderly, dementia patients – Alzheimer’s with autism, children and adolescents, workers and the general population, anywhere in the country, even in the most remote areas.

Our concern is the creation of a complete system of quality mental health services with a focus on people, so that no one is left alone, no one is left behind “.
