Clarifications regarding the categories of patients that will not be charged with 1 and 3 euros per referral for diagnostic tests, is given by EOPYY in a circular.

Particularly:

  • For the preventive examinations that fall under the Doxiadis program, no payment of the amount is foreseen, as they are part of a special financing regime by the Ministry of Health and are not subject to an automatic refund mechanism.
  • There is no payment of the amount by the beneficiaries of EOPYY care, for examinations performed in public, university and military hospitals, in the Onassios Cardiac Surgery Center, in the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Papageorgiou”, in the General Hospital of Thira, in the Eugenide Hospital, in “Panagia Faneromeni – Athanasiou and Vera Kouloura Charitable Foundation”, Aegina Hospital “Agios Dionysios”, Medical Biological Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens and in general to providers, who for outpatient examinations – beneficiaries of EOPYY care, are not subject to an automatic refund mechanism.
  • Also, insured persons of European social security institutions do not fall within the scope of the law and therefore no amount is withheld from them either (1 – 3 euros).

Those suffering from:

  • Mediterranean anemia
  • sickle cell disease
  • chronic end-stage renal failure who are on renal replacement therapy or peritoneal dialysis or have undergone a transplant
  • those suffering from cystic fibrosis
  • those suffering from type 1 diabetes
  • amputees who receive the extra-institutional benefit with a disability rate of 67% or more
  • as well as those with a disability of 80% or more, certified by a Disability Certification Center, for any condition.
