Brazil recorded 274 deaths from Covid and 23,393 cases of the disease, this Tuesday (1st). With this, the country reaches 649,717 deaths and 28,809,465 registered cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
After recording the moving average above 800 for sixteen consecutive days, it has been down for the past seven days at 598, down 26% from two weeks ago. The moving average of cases also dropped to 65,370 cases. Two weeks ago, that number was 127,077 (a 46% reduction).
The statistical feature that seeks to smooth out variations in data, such as those that usually happen on weekends and holidays, is calculated by adding the deaths in the last seven days and dividing the result by seven.
The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between sheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic.
The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.
Vaccination data against Covid-19, also collected by the consortium, was updated in 18 states.
The consortium of press vehicles recently updated the Brazilian population numbers used to calculate the percentage of people vaccinated in the country. Now, the data used are the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) projection for 2022.
All numbers are now calculated according to these values, including last year’s. Therefore, the percentages of people vaccinated may differ from the previously published figures.
Brazil registered 161,282 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Tuesday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 28,817 first doses, 30,347 second doses. In addition, 106,238 booster shots were recorded. The number of single doses of Janssen was revised downwards and thus 4,120 fewer doses of the immunizer were recorded in the last 24 hours.
In all, 172,634,853 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil. There are already 155,194,905 people with two doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine. As for booster doses, 64,504,743 were applied.
Thus, the country already has 80.36% of the population with the 1st dose and 72.24% of Brazilians with both doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine, and 30.03% of the population with vaccine booster.
Even those who received two doses of a vaccine or a single dose of Janssen should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, say experts.
The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed newsletters about the disease and took information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of the totals of cases and deaths. In addition, the government has released conflicting data.
