Over 27,000 women detected breast cancer early – Deputy Minister of Health appealed to all women to get screened

The Deputy Minister of Health wanted to send her own message about the importance of prevention and early diagnostic tests in the fight against breast cancer Irini Agapidakis while informing the competent committee of the Parliament, appealing to all women to do their tests and revealing that she too has a suspicious finding that needs monitoring.
“In my case, when I have some findings, my doctor has recommended an ultrasound scan and of course a digital mammogram. With self-examination you can detect it later”, the Minister emphasized, explaining a little later to parliamentary editors that in some examination there was a finding which, however, is not a malignancy, but something common that needs monitoring so that if it develops into something bad, there is a timely treatment
Referring to “Fofi Gennimata” program Ms. Agapidaki emphasized that more than 430,000 digital mammograms have been performed and more than 27,000 women with findings were detected in time.
“I also have fear every year, that’s why it’s good to draw strength from each other. All women aged 45-75 should go to mastografia.gov.gr to make an appointment and take an exam. They make an appointment immediately. Nothing needs to be prescribed, everything is easy and free,” she emphasized.
Today the Parliament lit up with the pink ribbon, a sign of the fight against breast cancer, with the Minister stating that the symbolic lighting sends a message of solidarity and support to women who have been faced with cancer, adding that the pink ribbon is an act in an army for to save lives.
