New information campaign on vaccination against it Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), the Panhellenic Association of Health Visitors (PSEY) begins.

The HPV vaccine, which is recommended from age 9 in boys and girls, is the most effective defense against the virus that is responsible for 5% of cancers worldwide, including oropharyngeal, cervical, anal, penile cancers and warts, the Association reports.

He adds that early administration of the HPV vaccine provides the highest protection and is particularly effective when given early, in children aged 9-12 years, ensuring the best possible immune response. But it can be done up to the age of 18.

THE Panhellenic Association of Health Visitors stresses that the nine-valent HPV vaccine, used in Greece, protects against the types of virus that cause 90% of cervical cancers and 90% of warts.

PSEY/NPDD emphasizes that the vaccine is safe and has proven its value in preventing HPV-related diseases.

In Greece, approximately 697 new cases of cervical cancer are registered annually, while vaccination prevention remains the most effective weapon against this serious problem.

PSEY calls on parents to be informed and take action. The Association will help achieve the goal set by the World Health Organization to vaccinate 90% of girls up to 15 years of age by 2030, so that by 2047 the country will have eliminated cervical cancer, emphasizes Maria Sakoufaki, president of the Board of Directors Association.
