High levels remains the positivity for the influenza in the community, there is an increase in cases of respiratory-RSV respiratory virus, while the positivity of Sars-COV2 is decreased, according to the EDY Epidemiological Report for the period 13-19 January.

In particular:

Influenza

The plot of influenza in the community (as estimated by the Sentinel PFI surveillance network) remains above the threshold that marks the seasonal activity of the influenza (10%), decreasing compared to last week.

The positivity of the Sari surveillance network samples remains at the same level compared to the previous week.

During January 13-19, 17 new serious cases of ICU hospitalization and three new deaths were recorded by laboratory confirmed influenza.

In addition, five serious cases of laboratory confirmed influenza were retrospectively reported, as well as one death.

Since the initiation of the influenza surveillance, 77 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza with hospitalization in ICU and 11 deaths from laboratory confirmed influenza have been recorded.

From early 2024 to January 19th, recorded deaths in serious incidents with laboratory confirmed influenza amount to 72.

Positive specimens for icon viruses belong to types A and type b.

SARS-COV2 virus-COVID-19 infection

The positivity of all controlled samples declined compared to last week.

418 new imports were recorded. The average weekly number of new imports in the previous four weeks was 558.

The number of new intubations was ten. The average weekly number of new intubations in the previous four weeks was nine.

The number of patients with COVID-19 infection who are hospitalized is 26.

The number of deaths was 21. The average weekly number of deaths in the previous four weeks was 27.

From the beginning of 2024 to January 19, 2025, recorded deaths in serious incidents (intubated and/or hospitalized in ICU) amount to 357.

The KP.3 and XEC submissions of BA.2.86 are the prevailing executives. The rise trends are presented by XEC executives from early October 2024.

According to EDYY, none of these executives have currently been associated with an increased risk of severe disease.

At national level, the weighted viral load on urban waste water is on a moderate level compared to historical data, falling from last week.

Fluid Subscription – ILI (regardless of pathogenic)

The number of influenza incidence per 1,000 visits was reduced compared to the previous week.

Severe Acute Respiratory Infection – Sari (regardless of pathogen)

The number of Sari outbreaks per 1,000 visits showed a slight reduction compared to the previous week.

Respiratory Syndrome – RSV

The positivity to the community (Sentinel PFI surveillance network) is increasing, however, remaining at low levels, while Sari’s surveillance network did not detect positive samples.
