Piraeus Cancer Hospital “Metaxas”, Doc Therapy and AMKE Wincancer join their strengths

Metaxas Hospital welcomed last Thursday representatives of the DOC Therapy organization and the Wincancer bourgeois non -profit company, with the aim of launching a new, promising collaboration in the field of dog therapeutic contact.

In the presence of the Metaxas Hospital Commander Mr. Sarantos Efstathopoulos, the Chairman of the Committee on Infectious Diseases, Mr. Maria Kotsopoulou, executives of the Medical and Nursing Service and representatives of the Association of Friends of Patients, ” Assisted Therapy) inside Metaxas Hospital.

It is an initiative that aspires to enhance the social and emotional support of oncological patients, but also to provide relief to attendants and health staff.

As a hospital with a long tradition in the integrated care of the oncology patient, we are constantly looking for innovative and scientifically documented interventions that will enhance the quality of life of our nurses.

Today’s meeting marks a new approach that recognizes the power of empathy, contact and non -verbal communication – where the presence of a dog becomes a carrier of relief, joy and hope.
