The Deputy Minister of Health Mina Gaga visited the hospitals of Argos, Nafplio and Tripoli, as part of the ongoing visits to the country’s hospitals.

Accompanied by the Commander of the 6th RAE, Giannis Karvelis, Ms. Gaga toured the facilities and departments of the hospitals and discussed with the administrations and the representatives of the medical and nursing services on all issues of operation, organization and staffing.

In the context of the visit, informative meetings were held with the participation of representatives of the Peloponnese Region, the mayors of Argos and Nafplio and the MP of Argolida, Giannis Andrianou.

The Deputy Minister of Health stressed that the cooperation of Argos and Nafplio hospitals at the medical and administrative level is a precondition for the full coverage of the health care needs of the entire prefecture.

In the short-term planning of the ministry, he added, is the upgrade of the structures, a part of which is already provided by the technical services and another part has been included in NSRF programs.

On the issue of the lack of pediatricians from the public structures of Argolida, Ms. Gaga said that a solution will be found soon.

At the Panarkadiko Hospital in Tripoli, the Deputy Minister visited, among other things, the Emergency Department, the Intensive Care Units and the wards. He had meetings and discussions with doctors, nurses, the administration, the president of the Medical Association of Arcadia and the head of EKAB Arcadia.

Emphasis on quality

The Deputy Minister of Health also attended the Quality Assurance Laboratory in the Nursing Service, organized by the Quality Assurance Organization in the Health Services (ODIPY), with the participation of nurses from all over the Peloponnese.

Ms. Gaga praised the work of the nurses, emphasizing that the nursing services are the “backbone” of the health care, since the nurses are the ones who are closest to the patients and take care to follow all the medical instructions.

He also stated that quality assurance and standardized procedures are a fundamental issue in care and reaffirmed the ministry’s support for ODIPY’s actions.
