Members of the World Health Organization (who, who, who) today adopted a milestone agreement on how to prepare for future pandemics after the Covid-19, which killed millions of people in the years from 2020 to 2022.

After three years of negotiations, the legally binding pact was adopted in Geneva by the Global Health Assembly. Its members who welcomed his adoption with applause.

The pact is widely considered a victory for members of the World Health Organization, at a time when multilateral organizations, such as the US, are affected by US funding cuts.

“The agreement is a victory for public health, science and multilateral action. It will ensure that we can collectively protect the world better than future pandemic threats »said its general manager, Tedros Antanom Gembregens.

The Treaty faced a last -minute problem yesterday, Monday, when Slovakia called for a vote, as its prime minister, who expresses skepticism against the vaccines, called on his country to question the adoption of the deal.

One hundred and twenty -four countries voted in favor, no against, while 11 countries, including Poland, Israel, Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Iran, abstained.
