Vaccination of the elderly against influenza in the city of São Paulo will begin this Sunday (27) in public parks and in two pharmacies on Avenida Paulista, in the central region of the capital. Initially, people over 80 years old will be immunized.
The trivalent influenza vaccine used in Brazil in 2022 features three types of virus strains in combination and protects against H1N1, H3N2 and B/Victoria subtypes, according to the Municipal Health Department.
The beginning of the immunization of the elderly against the flu takes place on “Sunday of Vaccination” throughout the cities of São Paulo, announced by the state government this week.
In addition to flu vaccination, the posts will immunize children, adolescents and adults against Covid-19.
Elderly people aged 80 and over will be able to take the opportunity to receive the fourth dose of the Covid vaccine – as long as they have taken the third one at least four months ago –, and the flu vaccine simultaneously this Sunday.
In the case of the city of São Paulo, as of Monday (28), vaccination against Covid-19 will take place across the entire network: UBSs and Integrated AMAs/UBSs, from 7 am to 7 pm, and megaposts and drive-thrus , from 8 am to 5 pm.
Vaccination for children is carried out only at UBSs and Integrated WADAs/UBSs, where immunization against the influenza virus will also be available.
According to the Municipal Health Department, as of next Wednesday (30), elderly people aged 70 and over will be able to receive the fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 in the city of São Paulo, provided they have taken the third dose. for at least four months.
According to data from the state government, 91.18% of the population has the complete vaccination schedule against Covid.
In the case of children over 5 years old, until 5:30 pm this Friday (25), 76.54% had received the first dose and 36.93% had complete immunization. In the capital of São Paulo, they were 84.4% and 42.1%, respectively.
