Health officials in the United Kingdom assured pregnant women that it is safe to receive paracetamol, after US President Donald Trump’s claim That causes autism in children.

The UK’s Drug Administration and Health Care Regulatory Authority, the UK’s Drug Supervisory Authority, replied:

“There is no evidence to prove that taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children. Paracetamol remains the recommended selection of pain relief for pregnant women when used according to instructions. Pregnant women should continue to follow the existing NHS guidelines and talk to their health professional if they have questions about any medicine during pregnancy. ”

The message clearly clarifies that tips are based on a strict evaluation of the best available scientific data. “Any new elements that could affect our recommendations will be carefully evaluated by our independent scientific experts”.

In conclusion, the Authority notes: “We are constantly monitoring the safety of all medicines, including those used during pregnancy, through strict surveillance. We encourage anyone to tell us any suspicious side effects through the yellow card system. ”
