“Why doesn’t my grandmother remember my name?” It is the Alzheimer’s Alzheimer’s Information Program today at the Rethymnon Community Center.
This particular information program “I Learn about Alzheimer’s Disease” that runs in Greece was presented today, to the pupils and students of the 4th grade of the 2nd Elementary School of Rethymnon as part of an event that is part of the “Alzheimer’s Awareness Week”.
“The program focuses on informing children about the disease in an experiential, comprehensible, supervisory and playful way,” as Deputy Mayor of Social Services Anna Eleftheriadou-Gika explained.
Addressing the pupils and students who participated in the event, the Mayor of Rethymnon focused on the need for children and their parents to understand and share the problems that the elderly people suffering from dementia face.
“Grandmothers and grandparents need care, tranquility, love and simple activities with you. Our mind looks like a sponge with dents and is a valuable tool that we must use constantly and not leave it in the warehouse, nor keep it imprisoned. To love your grandparents and try to spend time and do beautiful things with them, ”said Marinakis.
The specific actions aimed at pupils and students of Elementary Schools and Kindergartens all over Greece are held at the initiative of the Association of Relatives and Friends of Alzheimer’s and with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
