The Single Electronic Appointment System as well as the first results from the hospitals evaluation system, were presented on Monday (6/10) at a joint press conference by Health Ministers Adonis Georgiadis and Dimitris Papastergiou.
Speaking about the changes that are now visible to health, Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Government, in his introductory position, spoke of a project that has a low cost with a multiplier benefit to citizens, according to ertnews.gr.
For her part, Deputy Minister of Health, Irene Agapidakis, said that “There are many things that are done and that people do not know and concern actions that simplify the lives of citizens.” noting that it is an attempt in progress.
A million e -mails to citizens for organ donation
For a large reform that he described as “our moral obligation” was informed by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, announcing that by the afternoon of Friday, October 3, the e-mail has begun by Gov.gr, the e-mail to all Greek citizens from the National Organization. In its text, the organization explains the benefits of transplants and the process to declare an instrument donor as a “click” of the link included in the mail can declare compact body organs. So far they have received the e-mail, one million citizens. The process will be completed by next Friday when all citizens have received this informative email. “And a life to be saved, it has value,” the minister stressed.
On the single system of electronic appointments, Adonis Georgiadis said that “citizens could only make an appointment by contracting doctors and primary health care until September 30.
As of October 1, the country’s 127 hospitals have been added in a circular. We have over 200,000 closed appointments. The most impressive was the first day it shows and how much people were really waiting for this particular application. “
Speaking about the citizen’s communication line, he said that “the line is designed to receive up to 11,000 calls the day. Since Saturday we have added the Call Back service through 1566.
We have so far reached the system of 12,600, forty of different specialties. We have covered the 127 hospitals in the country, in total we have over 1,200 physicians, 770 cardiologists, 880 pediatricians, etc.
Our goal is to remove the suffering and anxiety from the patient if he will find a doctor. He will find a doctor and as a rule quickly. We can say that what we built is nowhere else. “
The first results of the evaluation
Presenting the first results of the evaluation of citizens for 111 hospitals and 631 clinics, excluding pediatric, oncology, psychiatric, hospitals, the respondents in the research responded as follows:
- The general results show very high satisfaction in basic axes, which are associated with safety and quality of care.
- The adequacy of medical equipment and medical staff rates rates of positive answers of 92%.
- Particularly high rates are the provision of comprehensible instructions both oral and written.
- The degree of confidence in the treating doctors and the nursing staff is also highly evaluated.
- Slightly lower is the general rate of satisfaction with the existence of coordination and cooperation between the different parts of the hospital.
- On the other hand, there are specific aspects with moderate levels of satisfaction, ie below the 75% threshold in terms of hospital cleanliness that is positively evaluated by 69% of patients.
- Lower are the percentages related to the numerical adequacy of nursing staff and the participation of patients in the formulation of decisions for their care and treatment.
- The quality of the food is recorded by only 48% of patients.
The overall satisfaction of patients is higher in cardiological and pathological clinics and less in neurological.
From the findings of the investigation at a hospital in Attica, it appears that the feeding and cleanliness of the hospital by clinic shows differences.
As noted, hospital administrators were trained, while in October, they will receive very specific instructions on how they should now reflect both the current situation from the evaluation of patients who have received services in their hospital, but also the intervals where they should review each other.
“At the beginning of ’26 the presentation of all results”
“The purpose of the Ministry of Health is all these tools to be a model” The Minister of Health noted, adding that “the self -assessment tool shows, in terms of the general picture of the NHS, a completely different NSS than what public opinion has.”
“It is our ultimate goal in early 2026 to be ready to present all the information, the evaluation per clinic in each hospital.”the Minister added and pointed out: “First, all tools must be tools of transparency to the world. The NHS does not belong to us, it belongs to the world. Secondly, these are useful tools for the administration, to see who is doing a good job. And I will judge them by whether over time they have improved the conditions for which citizens have given them a bad grade. “
Adonis Georgiadis called on all patients to answer questions about the evaluation and added that he did not consider the results so far. “We’re talking about health. And one has not gone well, there is a problem. Yes, we are much better than the image of chaos often presented for the NHS but we have a long way to get where we want. “
