Brazil recorded 39 deaths from Covid and 6,711 cases of the disease, this Sunday (10). With this, the country reaches 661,309 deaths and 30,148,181 registered cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
For the ninth consecutive day, the country recorded an average number of deaths below 200. Now, the moving average of deaths is 149, a reduction of 37% compared to the data of two weeks ago, and that of infections is 21,195, a decrease of 29 %.
The statistical feature that seeks to smooth out variations in data, such as those that usually happen on weekends and holidays, is calculated by adding the deaths in the last seven days and dividing the result by seven.
The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic.
The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the State Health Departments.
The data on vaccination against Covid-19, also collected by the consortium, was updated in 18 states.
The consortium of press vehicles recently updated the Brazilian population numbers used to calculate the percentage of people vaccinated in the country. Now, the data used are the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) projection for 2022.
All numbers are now calculated according to these values, including last year’s. Therefore, the percentages of people vaccinated may differ from the previously published figures.
Brazil registered 212,014 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Sunday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 41,454 first doses, 63,963 second doses. In addition, 555 single doses and 106,042 booster doses were recorded.
In all, 176,206,552 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil. There are already 162,050,648 people with two doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine. As for booster doses, 81,277,790 were applied.
Thus, the country already has 84.2% of the population with the 1st dose and 75.4% of Brazilians with both doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine, and 37.8% of the population with vaccine booster.
The consortium also started recording the doses of vaccines given to children. The population aged 5 to 11 years partially immunized (with only the first dose of vaccine received) is 54.02% (11,073,468 doses applied). In the same age group, 19.56% (4,009,279) received the second dose.
Considering the entire population over 5 years, 88% received one dose and 80.96% received two doses or Janssen’s single dose vaccine.
Even those who received both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, say experts.
The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed newsletters about the disease and took information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of the totals of cases and deaths. In addition, the government has released conflicting data.
