Panel SA: Bars and restaurants take request for exemption from payroll to pre-candidates

by

Bar and restaurant owners are closing the topics they intend to present to presidential candidates this year. One of the main points will be the request for exemption from payroll.

Paulo Solmucci, president of Abrasel (an industry association), says that, in the face of inflation, establishments are having difficulty closing accounts and almost 40% of them are operating at a loss.

“We only stay in Simples Nacional today because of INSS issues. If the INSS didn’t have the burden on the payroll, it would be more advantageous today for companies to leave the regime. We don’t want to have this tie of being forced to live at Simples. We want to grow like any other company”, he says.

According to Solmucci, the exemption should precede the tax reform, which would increase the burden on the sector.

“We are not against the tax reform, but we believe that the condition for it to happen is that there is comfort for the sector, which will only come with the exemption of the payroll. The 17 largest sectors in the country are exempt. encumbered. It makes no sense”, he says.

In January, Bolsonaro sanctioned the extension of the payroll tax exemption for sectors such as civil construction, vehicle manufacturing and footwear. The mechanism allows companies to pay rates of 1% to 4.5% on gross income, instead of 20% on the payroll.

Solmucci says that the entity is waiting for the definition of the slates to send a document with the demands; But the idea, according to him, is for the agenda to come out behind the scenes and have a broader debate.

The entity is already preparing a campaign in May to support the expansion of labor reform, another agenda for the sector.
