Saturday will be D-Day for flu and measles vaccination in SP

The Government of São Paulo, management Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), announced for next Saturday (30) the realization of the D-Day for the immunization of children from 6 months to 5 years of age against measles and flu. The service will be provided at about 3,200 health posts across the state, from 8 am to 5 pm.

The goal is to vaccinate 95% of the target audience, which is about 12.9 million in the state.

“It is essential to raise the awareness of parents and guardians about the importance of immunization of vaccination against influenza and measles for children. Vaccines are safe and protect against serious forms of the disease”, highlights the director of immunization of São Paulo, Núbia Araújo .

Measles and flu vaccines can be given simultaneously, except for people who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

D-Day will also serve to accelerate the immunization of the public over 60 years of age and health professionals against the flu, which has taken place since the end of March. So far, only 30.9% of this public has received the vaccine, according to the government.

The influenza vaccine is trivalent and produced by the Butantan Institute and is composed of the H1N1, strain B and H3N2 viruses, of the Darwin subtype, which caused the outbreaks located at the end of last year.

  • April 30th: children over 6 months to under 5 years of age
  • may 2nd: pregnant and postpartum women
  • May 9: indigenous peoples, teachers, people with disabilities and people with comorbidities
  • May 16: security and rescue forces, armed forces, employees of the prison system, truck drivers, workers in the collective road transport of urban and long-distance passengers, port workers and the population deprived of liberty and adolescents and young people under socio-educational measures
