Brazil records 10 deaths from Covid and more than 6 thousand cases

by

Brazil recorded 10 deaths from Covid and 6,062 cases of the disease, this Sunday (8). Several states have not updated pandemic data. They were: Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Federal District, Roraima, Rondônia and Rio de Janeiro.

Another fifteen states reported no deaths on Sunday. It is worth mentioning, however, that the pandemic data on weekends and holidays are smaller and underreported due to notification delays in the health secretariats.

With this Sunday’s data, Brazil reaches 664,189 lives lost and 30,559,799 people infected by Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving average of cases shows a slight increase (16%), in relation to the data of two weeks ago. It is now 15,723 a day. The average number of deaths remains stable (no variations greater than 15%) and is 89 per day.

The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

The consortium of press vehicles stopped updating the numbers of vaccinated against Covid-19 on weekends and holidays. On business days, the data will be updated normally. The measure aims to avoid inaccuracies in the numbers provided to the reader.

The change occurs due to problems in the consolidation of vaccination data by state secretariats. Several states do not update the total number of vaccinated on weekends and holidays, and even those that do sometimes report outdated numbers, which do not correspond to reality and are usually corrected in the following days.
