Brand new kitchens can really bring wonder to your home, but they won’t be profitable.

Buying new units and equipment can run into the thousands and even sacrifice installation and effort. But it does not have to be like that.

If your kitchen is having a better day, but you don’t have the big budget to change it up, get inspired by a Northeast-savvy mom with this budget update.

Sarah Ways, a 45-year-old carer and mother of two from Newcastle, has transformed the kitchen from a non-stimulating room into a beautiful modern space with stylish accents.

To cut costs, she used inexpensive materials such as tile adhesives, vinyl tiles and B&M fittings. The total cost of the conversion was less than £800 for Sarah.

“The board installed a new kitchen before it closed in March 2020,” Sarah told the DIYOnABudget UK Facebook group.

“In the end, I thought it was an opportunity to use my kitchen the way I wanted. I had my desk, stove and gas stove, and the council used them.

Then I started painting the walls, putting vinyl tiles on the floor and little by little buying accessories. I did my own print on the wall and used a tile sticker behind the syringe and sink.

The board put in new blocks and tiles, but Sarah also saved a lot by creating the decorations, floors, shutters, and shelves separately. She also shopped deals on Amazon, eBay, B&M and supermarket sales.

Vinyl floor tile was ფ25 in 4 packs from Studio, Backsplash tile stickers was 50 6.50 with 24 stickers from Amazon, Wilko paint 50 50, and work surface was 9090 at 3 meters from Wickes.

Stove, stove and hood were 350 from Argos and the shutters 6060. ფ 100 from Tesco, B&M, Amazon, ebay.

“The total cost was less than £800. I am very happy with the result.”

“I’m creative and I enjoy trying out how different textures and designs come together,” she adds. “I like the free-spirited style of the Scandinavian mix.

“I’m on a shoestring budget and considering a sale. B&M is a godsend! You can also pick up a few deals at a local grocery store and keep track of end-of-season sales. I can do it.”

“When I was a child, I was so interested in seeing my dad that I draw and draw. I have been decorating my parents’ house since I was 11 years old.

“I try to do as much of my work myself as possible. I’ll do my best to do everything.”

There is nothing Sarah won’t allow. One of her best tips is to keep thinking as positive as possible.

“I can’t do that” is not in my vocabulary, he says. If you learn how to do it yourself, you will save a lot of hard work.

“The next project is the bedroom wall cladding. I just finished doing a folded wall in an extra bedroom. I’m very happy with what I’ve saved. I love to trade.”
