Black people are an integral part of LGBTQ+ history in the UK, but their history has historically been erased from history.

One of the missions to change this and set an undeniable and eternal record in British blackstone history is artist and filmmaker Topher Campbell.

Toffer’s latest project is marking the legacy of the black British LGBTQ+ community. Shaped Moment: Queer Black Britain is a 44-minute film narrated by award-winning comedians and writers. Gina Yasha And it is produced and directed by Tofer.

The film premiered exclusively on My5 in the UK from June 1 to mark the start of Pride Month.

“The history of Black Britain in Britain has always included the wind, the uprising of the 1980s, all the campaigns that took place, the breakthroughs and some of the celebrities and faces that we are used to. I’m doing it” . Topher said. ..

“But this never applies to Black LGBTQ+ people. We were at the center of the definition of British black culture.

Toffer is determined to focus on black British LGBTQ+ pioneers in sports, politics, film and television, and politics, and deal with the fraud leading to a defection from the history books.

“I was part of a mature generation in the ’90s and was considered unbelievable or unlikely, and highly undesirable to black people for being LGBTQ+.

“I think a lot of people didn’t really accept it in the black community, but in the broader community they accepted the idea that black people have multiple identities.”

Tofer says that these attitudes made it very difficult to extract and take the sound seriously.

“We were silenced by the black community and also by the gay community in general. What I like about this film is that it is us and all of us. To be is to bring part of this history to the center of British culture.”

Highlights: The Stone Black Britain shows that the community has stopped hiding underground, proudly showcasing the struggles the British BlackStone community has faced in the process.

As the culmination of Britain’s biggest Black Pride event in Hackney Park in 2019, the new film reconstructs footage and drama, as well as the staff of activist Ajam X and journalist Mark Thompson. We are exploring this release through Hackney’s testimonial. Shenge, athlete Corinne Humphreys and Phil Opokgima, founder of Black Pride UK.

“I wanted to celebrate this movie. Many stories about LGBTQ+ people, especially black people, and both, say that we are victims or that someone else is talking about us. That’s what Tofer says.

“I would like to mention what we did for ourselves. But we are doing it for ourselves. We have also created a strong and energetic society. There, now everyone is involved in some way.”

This project is not Tofer’s first attack in the field of black stone history.

I also created Maple with campaign participant Ajam X! The archive at London Met is Europe’s largest collection of Ishiguro art, including music, film, photography and posters.

The purpose of the archive is to collect, preserve, display and publish historical, cultural and artistic materials relating to the British black, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

“I think it’s very important to prove our position in history,” Tofer said. “There is an old saying that history is written by invaders, so we, the little children, the outcasts, the thresholds, the forgotten, those of us who don’t think about it, see it. Nope.

“But I am very interested in how we write history. As a black stone man, the story we tell about ourselves is in the story for everyone, not just us. I feel very strong when it comes to that.”

“How can we make society grow if we don’t prove our existence?” How to grow as a culture? How can you find out what happened before us by tomorrow? “

Shaped Moment: Queer Black Britain was co-produced by Maxine Watson and Patrick Young for Cardiff Productions. The executive producers of BET UK are Collins Harris and Craig Or.
