Your voice is as unique as your DNA. This allows you to discuss your dinner plans, flirt, persuade others, share your words of wisdom, and ask for help.

But just like your mind and body, your voice needs attention.

The rusty sound you hear first thing in the morning will be familiar to you. And after talking for a day, your voice may sound strained. Nerves and stress can also trigger your voice. And if you overuse it, you can lose it entirely.

“There are really two types of voice problems,” said Nick Redman, speech coach, accent specialist and host of the Voice Coach Podcast. “Behaviors related to physical habits. And we have a psychosomatic view of our voice.

The good news is that a few simple steps can protect your voice and increase its strength, expressiveness, and uniqueness. And in the end, you will be able to speak with confidence in any situation.

Here’s how to manage your voice a little better:

Remember that having a voice is a privilege

“We do that every day, so I think we understand how important the ability to communicate with others is,” Nick said. “It’s only when people lose their voice and feel how stressful and anxious it is that they realize that having a voice was a privilege in the first place.”

In a personal setting, hoarseness can make you feel isolated.

“Everyone knows that talking and interacting with friends is very important to our well-being, especially post-Covid,” Nick said.

Furthermore, discordant noise can have a serious impact on the professional environment.

Nick explains: “Your voice is a professional tool, whether you’re an actor, an officer or a barista.

“If you can’t communicate, connect with people, and spread the message you need to share, it can be a huge roadblock for professionals.”

Therefore, when it comes to healthy health, prevention is better than treatment.

“Much harder to deal with [voice loss] Instead of putting in a few small, fancy items, Nick says.

reduce tension

Posture has a big influence on your voice, whether it’s a laptop or a smartphone. Sound tense and your voice gets tired at the end of the day.

“A healthy voice requires a free and healthy body,” says Nick. “So minimal physical strain, effective posture and posture.”

A common problem is someone speaking with their chin forward.

Nick said: “Doing this affects the alignment of the body and the movement of the larynx, so it is much more difficult to talk to him.”

Remember that your voice is connected to your whole body. Do not lower your chin and lower it gently.

Tension is also a neurological symptom.

“When people are under stress, their bodies may be tense, they may be short of breath, their voices may be a little shaky, and they may not be in control of what’s going on,” explains Nick.

Nick makes simple suggestions to deal with nerves when speaking. Put your feet on the ground. Ა Breathe. He opens his shoulders and arms. He releases the abdomen. And she breathes beautifully and freely.

“A confident posture can deceive and speak with confidence.”

Breathing, sighs, yoga, etc. they can also relieve tension.

Hydrate, exhale through your nose and relax with your voice

There are some more daily habits that help you with your voice.

“In the world of sound, we’re talking about deep sleep,” says Nick. Stop talking regularly throughout the day, especially if you talk a lot.

“For example, you may need to schedule a 50-minute meeting to mute for 10 minutes.

Another good habit is to hydrate the vocal cords.

“The general guideline is for women to drink 2 liters of water a day and men two and a half times a day,” says Nick. “Water, tea, coffee and juice are all important, but alcohol is not.

“If you have hay fever and are taking medication, the medication will dry up the mucus and you’ll need to add more water.

“Breathing through your nose in winter warms cold air before it enters your body.”

Also, if you have a stuffy nose, boiling or using a nebulizer is recommended.

learn to love your voice

One of the reasons your voice may not sound confident is that you really don’t like their voice.

Nico tells us:

Ask yourself if your opinion about your voice is your true opinion. Ask yourself if that is what you believe. ‘

Neither vote is better than the other.

“It’s an unconscious bias,” says Nick. “There is no emphasis on intellectuals or skills, and our voice comes from the environment that is nurtured around us.

So how can you love your voice?

“Think of all the amazing things your voice can do to you: chat, express your feelings, help someone, play pranks, and solve banking problems over the phone,” suggests Nick. “No matter what your voice sounds like, it’s really important to be honest about all the amazing stuff.”

“Then get used to the sound of your own voice. People are always surprised to hear their voice, but record the conversation for a minute or two a day and listen to your voice. Sink therapy. It works.

Finally, allow the people you love to trust their feelings when they hear your voice.

“You’ll be surprised at how flattered they are; it can really boost your self-confidence.”
