Most people struggle to stay upright on the surfboard, but these dogs look like seasoned pros on the waves.
They attend the UK Dog Surfing Championships, their fourth year for the annual event.
The “Masters of the Dog”, as we all know, kicked off this morning (Saturday 23rd July) at Branksome Dene Chin Beach in Poole, Dorset.
The owner and his furry friends participated in dog surfing, and the attending public was able to enjoy it as a family throughout the day.
Organizer Mark Reeves said:
Up to 3,000 visitors are expected throughout the day and up to 30 dogs of all breeds will participate in the championship.
The dog paddleboard race is open to participants of all skill levels, so the bag of toys doesn’t have to be a natural in the waves.
The dogs are being monitored to make sure they are happy and safe in the water, and if the footage comes through, it looks like they are.
One owner used a Scooby Dough costume to guide his pet through the surf, but some of the competition dogs seem to be taking the lead very seriously.
Overall, it’s a very nice event. Check out these photos for the “aww” fix for the day.
