Every summer there seems to be a new viral drink that everyone is talking about, from dalgona coffee to ice cream.

Well, 2022 is no exception.

This summer’s viral drink seems to include wine and certain spicy ingredients.

People on TikTok add jalapeno peppers to their roses for a unique twist.

Apparently, this new drinking phenomenon belongs to a woman named Alice Marshall, who started the trend.

And this new ‘Spicy Rose’ has caught the attention of wine lovers.

Many others have now picked it up and are sharing their results on the platform.

But before you worry about ruining a perfectly clean rose glass, Alice’s idea doesn’t seem entirely out of the question.

After all, people love to enjoy spicy margaritas.

So is pink jalapeno really worth trying?

Our verdict on the pink jalapeño:

A friend mentioned this trend a few weeks ago. So when he and another friend came over for a drink in the garden one weekend in July, we thought we’d give it a try.

However, since there were no fresh jalapeños in the house, I think I should mention that we strayed a bit from the trend.

But I had a variety of cut jars in my cupboard.

In my opinion, this works just as well, if not better (after all, people love salt water in dirty martinis).

I must also stress that we were armed with the Sainsbury’s roses, so there was a lot less at stake if we hated it outright. For example, maybe you’re not the type to try a good bottle of Whispering Angel.

We sat in the sun taking chopped jalapeños out of the can and adding two or three of them to chilled wine.

Neither of us could taste anything for the first bite. But after a few minutes, the jalapenos calmed down and took on a rather intriguing spicy but also peppery flavor.

We didn’t hate it. we don’t love

Those first few bites were interesting to say the least.

But once we got to the bottom of the glass and the jalapenos soaking up the wine in the sun, it was a different story. So we had to give up our last bites.

Do you want to try again?

Was this the worst drink I’ve ever had? Nope.

Interesting experiment, but from now on I’ll stick with Naked Rosé.

However, fresh bell peppers may be a different story.
