A couple who stumbled across a veritable treasure trove of vintage clothing from decades ago that belonged to their late aunt say it was part of her back.

Angela Boyd Birch and her husband Edward Birch were cleaning out the attic of their family’s property in Georgia, USA, when they noticed a box sitting in the corner.

They included dresses, tops and shorts from the 1970s, most of which belonged to Edward’s late aunt, Margaret Birch Harton, who died in a car accident in 1986.

As Angela began to open all the boxes, she felt like “she was going back in time.”

He adds: This is a real treasure.

“I was completely fired up and excited. I knew I had the story in my hands.

After thoroughly cleaning the dirty clothes, Angela asked her 16-year-old daughter, Isabel, to try them on.

A 52-year-old retired teacher said, “I saw her eyes light up when she put on the yellow and orange dress. She was wearing the dress.”

After seeing her father’s reaction to seeing her wear the vintage lace dresses that I was able to restore, I thought it would be special for her to see her in these dresses.

“It was like giving him back a part of his aunt.”

Edward, a 61-year-old technician, described seeing Isabelle in vintage clothing as a “truly living legacy”.

When she saw her daughter, “she saw what my mother was like when she was younger.”

“I know that the three women, my mother, my aunt and my sister, would love to see her model all these clothes.

Angela took some photos of Isabelle in costume and shared them on the Vintage Finds Facebook group, which garnered over 20,000 likes.

But that was not all. High school student Isabel decided to wear a dress.

she said:

“I never met him, but seeing his clothes gives me a better understanding of his life and legacy.

Just looking at and wearing clothes from the 40s and 50s makes me feel like I’ve been transported back to a special era.
