There’s nothing better than a cold beer (or wine) on a hot day. But one leads to two, maybe even three (or a bottle!), and the next day you’re worse off, skipping fitness classes and eating poorly.

But what if there were still ways to enjoy the experience without risking alcohol? Everyone welcomed the rise of NoLo drinks.

Alcohol consumption has declined over the past decade, giving way to new markets for non-alcoholic and low-alcohol (NoLo) beverages, according to research by IWSR Drinks Market Analysis.

Anjali Douglas of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust says: “Consumers are becoming more aware of how much alcohol they consume. People who wanted to do something ‘for adults’ didn’t have many options.”

Seedlip was the first brand to launch a spirits range in 2015, with more products like Ceders hitting stores. Established brands like Gordons and San Miguel also offer 0% alcohol products.

“There is still a lot of education to be done with this development,” said Rosie Lee, co-founder of Nineteen94, a telecommunications agency specializing in the beverage industry and one of the IWSC NoLo panel judges.

He continues:

“But today there are different products with different flavor profiles, prices and drink styles.”
