(News Bulletin 247) – Orange announces today that it has taken “a major step” in its strategy of 100% automated, data and software-driven networks, by presenting today the results of Pikeo, its experimental 5G SA multicloud and cloud-native network end to end.

While the deployment of 5G private networks in cloud environments responds to new use cases – in particular for smart factories – Orange believes that this experimentation has enabled it to acquire ‘invaluable experience on the automation of native 5G SA networks cloud’.

Orange was able to highlight in particular that the 5G network (core and RAN) could be redeployed automatically in less than an hour. In addition, automated anomaly detection on mobile networks is much faster and power consumption can be optimized through automatic switch-off and switch-on. Finally, dynamic end-to-end slicing management for critical communication services has been successfully modeled and demonstrated, continues Orange.

“The results of this experiment confirm Orange’s ambition to become the reference operator in terms of resilient networks, based on data and software, and more respectful of the environment”, summarizes Laurent Leboucher, CTO of the Group. Orange and SVP Networks within Orange Innovation.
