(Reuters) – Boeing announced on Thursday the appointment of Sabrina Soussan, CEO of Suez, to its board of directors, the first member of the “board” based in Europe and outside the United States.

Subject to her election at the group’s annual general meeting on April 18, Sabrina Soussan, 53, of Franco-German nationality, will become the eighth independent member to join Boeing’s board of directors since last month. April 2019, said the American aircraft manufacturer in a press release.

Once elected, she will sit on the Audit and Finance Committees, he added.

Boeing’s board has seen several departures of high-profile directors in the wake of the 737 MAX crisis, including U.S. ambassadors Caroline Kennedy and Nikki Haley in January 2021 and March 2020 respectively.

Larry Kellner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Boeing, said in the group’s statement that Sabrina Soussan would bring “a holistic approach based on comprehensive engineering expertise and a strong background acquired in leadership positions in the production sectors. , security, sustainable development, transport and digital transformation”.

Sabrina Soussan took up her post as Chief Executive Officer of Suez in February 2022 and then as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in August of the same year, after having held management positions at Siemens for more than twenty years.
