(News Bulletin 247) – Author of a difficult course since its first stock market steps, Lepermislibre has made strong progress in recent days. The title is sought, while a bill to facilitate access to the license is currently under consideration in the National Assembly. A boon for Lepermislibre, of which about two-thirds of the payments of candidates subscribing to the company’s offers are made via the CPF.

Lepermislibre presses the accelerator on Tuesday. The title of specialist in learning to drive online increased by 11% on 3 euros, bringing its gains to more than 50% over the last five sessions.

The file therefore resumes the upward path after experiencing a difficult stock market journey since its IPO in mid-February. The title of the specialist in learning to drive online dropped nearly 50% of its value in the first month of trading. Until registering a historic low of 1.97 euros on March 20, to be compared with an introductory price set at 3.8 euros.

The case is supported by favorable news for the learn-to-drive sector. On Monday, a bill was presented to the National Assembly aimed at “making the permit cheaper, simpler and faster”, as indicated by its author, the deputy Renaissance Sacha Houlié.

A cheaper and simpler license

On average, candidates who wish to win the precious sesame must pay 2,000 euros to obtain their B permit. A dissuasive price for many candidates for whom obtaining the little pink card constitutes a real test towards social integration and professional.

“This sesame is now considered essential for 86% of young people aged 18 to 26 because it is both a passport to employment, facilitates social and economic integration and is synonymous with autonomy and independence for the winner”, noted the Lepermislibre on the occasion of its IPO.

In addition to the price, the other pitfall generally cited by candidates for the permit is the length of the time required to take the exam. The bill therefore provides for facilitating administrative procedures, identifying aid for permits and empowering public or contractual agents to compensate for the lack of driving license examiners. And thus shorten the time.

For the Lepermislibre, this bill would be welcome when around two-thirds of the payments of candidates subscribing to the company’s offers are made via the personal training account (CPF). The CPF has indeed made it possible to finance 322,000 driving licenses in 2021, or 28% of the licenses issued that year, two thirds of the beneficiaries being people under the age of 35.

Become the French leader in driving instruction

During the presentation of its IPO, Lepermislibre had indicated that it wanted to double its market share by 2025 to bring it from less than 1% currently to more than 2% on this date. Its turnover would then be between 45 and 50 million euros, according to its registration document. Lepermislibre is the first online driving school, approved by the State since 2014

It also plans to densify its geographical coverage by now attacking towns with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants where Lepermislibre has little or no presence. The company also intends to develop its network of partner teachers in the larger cities where the company is already established.

Still, for the time being the company has not yet achieved profitability. Its operating loss amounted to 605,000 euros in 2021 and 714,000 euros in 2020, the net loss was 632,000 euros and 867,000 euros for these two respective years. Lepermislibre intends to reach breakeven point, that is to say the break-even point in terms of gross operating income (Ebitda), by the end of 2024.

For the first time as a listed company, Lepermislibre will communicate both its 2022 annual accounts and its turnover for the first quarter of 2023 on April 6.
