(News Bulletin 247) – AXA reports that its Investment Managers division, AXA IM, has doubled its corporate engagement initiatives from 283 initiatives with 245 companies in 2021 to 596 initiatives with 480 companies in 2022.
‘As a responsible asset manager, we see engagement as an essential mechanism to foster a just and green transition. Climate change, biodiversity and social risk mitigation are at the heart of our engagement initiatives in 2022,” said Marco Morelli, Executive Chairman of AXA IM.
In detail, climate change remains the main engagement theme (28%), ahead of engagement initiatives related to corporate governance (20%) and biodiversity (18%).
Ahead of the 2023 voting season, AXA IM continues to reinforce its ESG expectations. Thus, AXA IM will be able to vote against the boards of directors of companies that have not sufficiently met the commitment requirements related to biodiversity. Thus, companies will continue to be held responsible for insufficient progress during thematic engagements and AXA IM will be able to vote against the board members concerned.
