BERLIN (Reuters) – Investor sentiment in the euro zone has improved since the beginning of April after an unexpected drop in March, the results of the Sentix institute’s monthly survey showed on Tuesday.
The Sentix confidence index stood at -8.7 points this month against -11.1 in March, while analysts polled by Reuters had expected -9.9.
The sub-index measuring the current situation of investors also recovered, to -4.3, for the sixth consecutive month, but it remains in negative territory after a contraction of 9.3 in March. This suggests that the economy is, at best, in a stagnant phase.
The investor expectations sub-index held steady in April at -13.0.
“There is no doubt that the eurozone economy has weathered the winter months better than many expected in the fall,” Sentix said.
The mild winter and energy sobriety measures have averted the risk of an energy shortage, also noted the institute, which questioned 1,300 investors between April 6 and 8 as part of its survey. .
