(News Bulletin 247) – Eni and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development signed today in Hanoi a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the identification of initiatives in the fields of agricultural supply and generation of carbon credits from a nature-based carbon offset solution.

The parties will study the possibilities of valuing the residues of the agro-industrial value chains in order to produce vegetable oils that do not compete with the food chain, for Eni’s biorefineries.

Opportunities for regenerating degraded, abandoned or contaminated agricultural land will also be assessed, as a driver of rural development.

The MoU provides for the possibility of cooperation on the topic of generating carbon credits from nature-based carbon offset activities.

The MoU is in line with the ministry’s mission to develop the agricultural sector in Vietnam in a sustainable way, with a view to encouraging 2.5% to 3% annual growth and increasing forest cover. to 42%, and it is part of Eni’s strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
