(News Bulletin 247) – ABB today announced that it is providing, together with ABB Electrification, an innovative power supply solution to improve safety, productivity and operational efficiency at six Vivo smartphone manufacturing sites.
Vivo is the world’s fifth-largest smartphone brand, with an annual production capacity of nearly 200 million smartphones. ABB’s power supply will support production 24/7.
James Zhao, Senior Vice President of ABB China, said: ‘Our advanced electrification technologies and solutions provide smart controls and digital capabilities that drive continuous improvements in productivity, energy efficiency and sustainability.’
ABB is partnering with engineering firm Renda Group on the three-year program. Advanced digital capabilities, including fault diagnosis and real-time analysis, will enable Vivo to make its energy management and maintenance work smart.
This partnership with ABB also allows Vivo to benefit from centralized sourcing which is expected to reduce supply and service costs by nearly 30% over a three-year period.
