FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Consumer inflation expectations fell further in April for the next 12 months and three years ahead, a European Central Bank (ECB) survey released on Tuesday showed.

The ECB survey shows that the average household inflation forecast has fallen to 4.1% over a one-year horizon, from 5.0% in March, based on a survey of of about 14,000 people. Three-year inflation expectations also fell, from 2.9% to 2.5%.

The trend seen in March has been “largely reversed”, the ECB said. “Inflation perceptions and expectations continued to be closely aligned across income groups, with younger participants reporting lower inflation perceptions and expectations and steeper declines than older participants. old”.

Consumers are also expecting more moderate growth in nominal income over the next 12 months, expectations for the unemployment rate have fallen and those for GDP have increased. They now expect the economy to contract by 0.8% vs. -1% previously.
