The four-time NBA champion, LeBron Jameswill give the boot to 24 Hours of Le Mansnext Saturday (10/06), marking the centenary of the famous motor race, as announced by the organizers.
In a relevant press release it is characteristically stated that “the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) is pleased to welcome one of the greatest athletes in History, a legendary American basketball player and philanthropist».
It is worth noting that, every year since 1949, the ACO assigns a personality to lower the tricolor flag at the start of the famous race.
In this context, James will succeed personalities such as Brad Pitt (2016), Rafael Nadal (2018), Alain Delon (1996), Georges Pompidou (1972) and Steve McQueen (1971).
“It is an honor for me to be part of this historic moment in motorsport and to help celebrate the centenary of one of the greatest sporting events in the world. I can’t wait to kick off this iconic race“, said the 38-year-old forward of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The “24 Hours of Le Mans” turns 100 years old this year, while 62 crews will take part in the race.
