(News Bulletin 247) – BAE Systems has announced that the ten public transport companies members of the Association du transport urbain du Québec (ATUQ) have ordered up to 1,229 battery-electric buses using the Gen3 electric drive system from BAE Systems, which will allow them to operate without polluting emissions.
BAE Systems will supply its drive systems to Nova Bus, which will integrate them into the buses. This battery electric bus order is the largest to date in North America and adds to the 1,800 buses in the province already powered by BAE Systems.
The ATUQ represents the public transport organizations that serve the main urban centers of the province of Quebec and provides 99% of public transport trips in the province.
“This order marks the next step toward full fleet electrification, providing reliable, high-performance systems to help ATUQ members achieve their environmental goals,” said Bob Lamanna, Vice President and General Manager of Power & Propulsion Solutions at BAE Systems.
