(News Bulletin 247) – Stora Enso announces that it has chosen to obtain equipment from ABB to obtain drive systems to be installed in its plant in Oulu (Finland), where its former paper manufacturing line is to be converted into a line of folding boxboard and coated ecru kraft.
As a reminder, ABB had already supplied a complete set of drive systems to Stora Enso in 2021, when the papermaker converted a first production line within the Oulu plant.
With the conversion of this second line, the total annual capacity of the site will increase by 750,000 metric tons to reach a capacity of 1,200,000 metric tons of cardboard.
“Our previous experience with Stora Enso – particularly around drive systems and drive controls – coupled with our advisory expertise is a good starting point for the project. We are delighted with the trust and value that Stora Enso places in our approach and our solutions,” commented Niko Lahtinen, Business Driver Paper Machine Drives, Process Industries at ABB.
