(News Bulletin 247) – Lhyfe announced on Monday the launch of a green hydrogen production plant project in the German port of Duisburg, the largest inland port in the world, with start-up envisaged in mid-2025.
After several months of collaboration, this feasibility study aims to prepare the construction of a factory whose production would be used by the main actors of the port.
The Duisburg transport authority (DVV) plans to use this sustainable energy source for its hydrogen buses, the public cleaning company WBD for its refuse collection vehicles and the operator duisport for its internal logistics. and operation of the port terminal.
The hydrogen production unit, with a maximum capacity of 20 MW and whose construction is planned on land located in the heart of the port, could be commissioned by mid-2025.
To guarantee the production of green hydrogen, the electrolysis production unit would be powered exclusively by renewable energies.
If the project were to be implemented, it would be up to eight tons of green hydrogen could be produced daily and made available to partners according to their needs.
