THE Wagner will continue its operations in Mali and the Central African Republic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today, noting that the mercenary group’s mutiny would not affect Moscow’s relationship with its allies.

Wagner members work in Mali and the Central African Republic “as trainers. This work will certainly continue,” Lavrov said in an interview with Russian television network RT.

The head of Russian diplomacy believed that Europe and France, “abandoning the Central African Republic and Mali”, led these countries to turn to Russia and Wagner to have military trainers and “ensure the safety of the leaders of these countries” .

Lavrov also felt that the armed rebellion of the organization’s leader Yevgeny Prigozhin and his men was not going to change anything in Russia’s relations with its allies.

“There have been many calls (from foreign partners) to President (Vladimir) Putin … to express their support for him,” he said.

“Not with partners and friends (s.s. nothing changes). As for the other (countries), honestly, I don’t care. Relations with the collective West have been destroyed (…), Lavrov stressed.
