(News Bulletin 247) – Nestlé US announced today that it wants to promote regenerative farming practices on wheat farms that are part of its Digiorno pizza brand supply chain.

The company intends to help develop these practices through a combination of financial support, resources and technical assistance.

Regenerative agriculture includes things like planting cover crops, eliminating or reducing tillage, and reducing the use of pesticides.

Through this initiative, Nestlé estimates that regenerative agriculture practices should be adopted in over 40,000 hectares of farmland.

Through partnerships with ADM and Ardent Mills – two main suppliers of wheat flour to Digiorno – Nestlé’s investment will benefit wheat farms in Kansas, North Dakota, Indiana and Missouri in particular.

‘At Nestlé, our goal is to help make the world better than we found it, and as the world’s largest food and beverage company, we have a tremendous opportunity to help create a food system rejuvenating and wholesome,” said Steve Presley, CEO of Nestlé Zone North America.
