(News Bulletin 247) – BASF announces that its ‘Personal Care’ division has published the first progress report on its Responsibly Active sustainability program. After a first year of setting up the program, BASF announces that it has recorded several successes.

One of the company’s main goals is to make 100% of its botanical supply chains traceable to the source by 2030. Thanks to a new digital tool, BASF can now trace 98% of its botanical supply chains to the country of origin and 42% to the source.

BASF says it is working closely with stakeholders across the value chain to support and promote diverse and equitable work, including women and smallholder farmers in their efforts.

The company reports that its bioactives production site in Pulnoy (France), succeeded in exceeding its 2025 targets of using 15% less water and saving 25% energy for each tonne of product leaving the site, compared to 2016.

‘Today we are happy to see that our journey towards greater sustainability is actually progressing and that we are on the right track. This motivates us and inspires us to work harder – together with customers, employees, suppliers, partners and everyone involved along the bioactives value chain,” said Veira Nunes, Head of Business Management for Bioactive Ingredients EMEA.
