(News Bulletin 247) – Nokia announced on Monday the launch of a new offer entirely dedicated to connected homes, with the aim of improving the performance of Wi-Fi networks in users’ homes.

This software suite, baptized ‘Corteca’, notably includes an intelligent interface in ‘cloud’ mode to manage both network functionalities and connected objects within a single dashboard.

A market place, also offered under the name ‘Corteca’, should allow developers to generate income by marketing their applications, particularly in the field of security.

The move comes as Nokia has recently bolstered its range of fiber and broadband Internet devices, such as gateways and repeaters.

In recent consumer tests, Nokia’s Corteca solution improved Wi-Fi speeds by 70% during peak hours and reduced helpdesk calls by 50%, indicates the Finnish telecom equipment manufacturer.
