LONDON (Reuters) – British airline easyJet said on Thursday it had reached an agreement with Airbus to increase its fleet by an additional 257 larger, fuel-efficient planes.
The proposed purchase, subject to shareholder approval, would add 157 aircraft and acquire rights for 100 more, the majority being A321neo aircraft, delivered between 2029 and 2034, the company said.
“This will enable the modernization and growth of easyJet’s fleet to continue beyond 2028, while delivering substantial benefits, including in terms of cost efficiencies and improved sustainability,” he said. said general manager Johan Lundgren in a statement.
The group also specified plans to convert an order for 35 A320neo aircraft into larger A321neo aircraft.
For the 12 months to the end of September, easyJet said it expects pre-tax profit of between £440 million and £460 million (€509.96 million to €533.14 million), in line with LSEG’s forecast at 454 million pounds.
EasyJet also said it would reinstate its dividend later this year, after pausing it during the pandemic.
