The Dow Jones index gained 0.16%, or 54.77 points, to 34,337.87 points.
The broader S&P-500 fell 3.69 points, or 0.08%, to 4,411.55 points.
The Nasdaq Composite fell 30.37 points (-0.22%) to 13,767.74 points.
If investors had to take into account the lowering Friday evening by Moody’s of the outlook on the United States’ credit rating, their attention is nevertheless mainly turned to Tuesday’s publication of American inflation figures in October. They hope to be able to draw from this statistical series indications on the duration of the maintenance of interest rates at a high level by the Fed.
Economists expect a slight decline in inflation last month in the United States, to 3.3% year-on-year after 3.7% in September. However, they believe that the “core” consumer price index, which excludes volatile elements, should remain unchanged.
The atmosphere was all the less risk-taking this Monday on Wall Street as the threat of a “shutdown” of the American federal administration at the end of the week still looms, with persistent divisions in Congress preventing the conclusion. of a budget agreement.
In individual values, Boeing gained 4.01% after the announcement by the Emirates company of an order for 90 copies of the 777X. Bloomberg further reported that China plans to resume purchases of 737 MAX aircraft at this week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in San Francisco.
