HONG KONG (Reuters) – Louis Vuitton menswear artistic director Pharrell Williams presented the brand’s latest menswear designs on a catwalk overlooking the city’s harbor on Thursday in Hong Kong at night.
The event, the second show for Pharrel Williams after a well-attended presentation in June in Paris, drew crowds to Victoria Dockside, a waterfront promenade bordering a sprawling complex of shopping centers, showrooms and of hotels built by Adrian Cheng, the scion of one of Hong Kong’s largest real estate developers.
Fans gathered before the parade, some on boats, to see celebrities like Chinese actor Dylan Wang and Hong Kong boy band Mirror, while a traditional wooden junk floated nearby, its sails lit up with Louis monograms Vuitton.
The LVMH-owned brand’s event comes as luxury groups flock to Asia, particularly China, a key market for the industry at a time when sales of high-end fashion are slowing in the United States. -United and Europe.
Ukulele players in T-shirts kicked off the show with tunes composed by Pharrel Williams, American rapper Swae Lee and Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Rauw Alejandro.
Models paraded down the sand-covered Avenue of Stars in casual sea-themed outfits, including sailor uniforms, Hawaiian shirts and shell-patterned jackets.
Pharrel Williams, 50, famous for his hits “Happy” and “Get Lucky” alongside Daft Punk, generated considerable enthusiasm with his first fashion show for the brand in Paris in June. He performed on the Pont Neuf with American rapper and music producer Jay-Z.
