PARIS (Reuters) – The M6 group has obtained the free-to-air television broadcast rights for the 2026 and 2030 Football World Cups, CEO Nicolas de Tavernost announced on Thursday.
“These two World Cups will be broadcast for free on M6 and in addition on the M6+ platform. We will see 54 of the best posters across all the competitions which each include 102 matches,” he said on RTL.
“We have taken our responsibilities to have for the first time the completeness and exclusivity of the matches in the clear,” said Nicolas de Tavernost while M6 will share the broadcast of Euro 2024, from June 14 to July 14, with TF1.
“Our competitor did not wish to continue this sharing.”
The sale price is not known but the 73-year-old manager assured that it was “below the prices practiced until now”, adding that a “combined offer for 2026 and 2030” had been formulated .
The 2026 World Cup will be organized from June 11 to July 19 in Canada, the United States and Mexico while the 2030 World Cup, the centenary edition, will be organized in Spain, Morocco and Portugal with an additional match in Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay.
