Investors await Donald Trump’s next appointments. On Friday, that of the future Secretary of Health, vaccine skeptic Robert Francis Kennedy Jr, caused pharmaceutical groups to fall.
“Potential political appointments for the new Trump administration are in the news, with the Treasury secretary position attracting the most interest, with a lot of jockeying over the weekend between those who are perceived as the main candidates, namely Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick”, explains Deutsche Bank. Scott Bessent is a former collaborator of the famous investor George Soros while Howard Lutnick is the managing director of the investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald.

Vivendi steps back
Otherwise, investors will wait for several meetings this week, including the first estimate of the PMI indices for November on Friday.
In reality, the most important market publication of the week remains that of Nvidia, which will publish its third quarter accounts on Wednesday evening after Wall Street closes. “Analysts predict that Nvidia will see an 82% year-over-year increase in revenue, which will be primarily driven by growing demand for AI processors, particularly the recently introduced Blackwell AI chip,” notes on this point Naeem Aslam from Avatrade.
On the value side, Vivendi lost 1.7% after presenting the medium-term outlook for Canal+, which is holding a day dedicated to investors this Monday in view of its next independent listing on the Paris Stock Exchange.
On other markets, the euro is stable against the dollar at 1.0543 dollars. Oil is moving forward. The January North Sea Brent contract advanced 0.45% to $71.45 per barrel while the December WTI contract gained 0.46% to $67.33 per barrel.
