(News Bulletin 247) – The flagship Parisian index is gaining a little ground halfway through this last full session of the year 2024.
Sluggishness continues to prevail on the Parisian market. At mid-session, the CAC 40 nibbled 0.15% to 7,366.42 points, at midday this Monday. Unsurprisingly, the volume of transactions is very limited with less than 400 million euros exchanged, in the absence of many operators on vacation.
On Tuesday, the Paris Stock Exchange will only be open for half a session, and will close shortly after 2 p.m. and will be closed on Wednesday.
On Friday, the flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange rose 1%, which allowed it to increase its increase over the entire past week to 1.11%. On Wall Street, the weekend was, however, more complicated. The S&P 500, for example, lost 1.1%, while the Nasdaq returned 1.5% on Friday evening, both weighed down by the decline of the largest capitalizations on the American market.
In the macroeconomic chapter, operators have taken note of an acceleration in inflation in Spain to reach 2.8% over one year, according to a provisional estimate from the National Institute of Statistics.
Banks on the rise
On the value side in Paris, very few significant movements were to be reported this Monday at midday. Banks remain well oriented, occupying the biggest increases in the CAC 40, with BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole gaining more than 0.8%.
Conversely, Teleperformance (-0.75%), L’Oréal (-0.6%) and Edenred (-0.5%) recorded the most pronounced declines in the flagship Parisian index.
On the SBF 120, Atos (+3.7%), Soitec (+2%) and Dassault Aviation (+1.5%) are sought after.
On other markets, the euro gained 0.2% against the dollar to 1.0450 dollars. Oil is sluggish. The February contract on Brent from the North Sea advanced 0.1% to 73.86 dollars per barrel while that of the same maturity on WTI listed in New York gained 0.4% to 70.70 dollars per barrel.
